Our Console Porting Checklist

Everything we tackle before a build touches an Xbox or PlayStation submission portal.

Performance Comes First

We profile on dev kits—not PCs—using platform ETW captures. If frame time spikes beyond 16.6 ms we treat it like a blocker and hand the clip to the responsible discipline the same day.

  • GPU capture per scene with annotated bottlenecks.
  • Thermal and fan-noise tests on both performance and quality modes.
  • Controller vibration budgets reviewed with audio to avoid spikes.

Certification Swim Lanes

Presence, save handling, suspend/resume, and network messaging each get their own Trello lane. A QA owner signs off every checklist item with video proof so nothing “assumed done” sneaks through.

Patch Rehearsals

We simulate day-one patches including version numbers, slot reservations, and delta sizes. Practice submissions save weeks when a platform only grants a limited number of tries.

Double-check CDN propagation, entitlement flags, and save compatibility before the real submission. Rehearsals expose edge cases early.
